 Thomas
Richard Lake has a wide and varied background, which enables him
to assist people from many walks of life. He has studied the integration
of body, emotions, mind and spirit for over two decades. Early in
life, Tom experienced a longing for deep connection with Great Spirit.
At 16 he spent a year in a Catholic Monastery. Tom then spent four
years in the military, two of which were in the Cuban Conflict.
His experience in the military enhanced his sense of sacredness
for all of life, and his commitment to a life dedicated to love
and peace, and assisting others to find those qualities in themselves.
Tom
obtained a B.S.S.W. from Rochester Institute of Technology. He then
went to graduate school where he majored in Psychotherapy at Central
Michigan University. Starting his career as a Resident Director
at Alma College, Tom then went back to the R.I.T. Campus and taught
psychology at the National Technical Institute for The Deaf. Following
his life long interest in spirituality, he received a Masters degree
in Theology from The International Bible College and Seminary.
Moving to Georgia, in the mid 70's Tom worked for the State of Georgia,
at the Department of Corrections, where he did psychological testing
and evaluation. Later, at Tift College in Macon, Georgia, he taught
Parole and Probation officers.
Tom
then spent six years as Personnel Director and the EAP advisor for
the City of Covington, Georgia. During this time Tom also served
on the board of directors of: a local bank, The YMCA, and the Chamber
of Commerce.
Active
in starting the Men's Movement in the early 80's, Tom continues
to enjoy assisting men in their healing process. He currently works
with both men and women individually and in groups.
Tom
opened the Covington Counseling Center, where he specialized in
holistic psychotherapy. Tom is certified by the American Board of
Hypnotherapy as a Certified Master Clinical Hypnotherapist and has
been using hypnotherapy with clients for more than a decade.
Following
his spiritual calling, Tom, has studied Shamanism and Shamanistic
healing for over fifteen years under many Shaman including North
American Indian, Mexican and Peruvian Shaman. Tom is an anointed
Shaman Healer. He founded the American School of Shamanism
Tom
teaches Shamanic healing classes and Leads Men's groups internationally
and has been a spiritual guide, counselor, teacher and coach for
thirty years. He has enjoyed working extensively with individuals,
couples, groups, organizations and businesses.
